HISTORY The previous owner ( a master mariner ) owned 'Bluey for fourteen years prior to our purchase. She had been maintained and serviced regularly by a Plymouth yard and been winterised and under cover for five months of each year. She had been mainly used for day trips with the occasional longer trips to Falmouth, Fowey and the Dart with some overnighters on the river Yelm. The engine hours at the time of our purchase was 300. Reason for selling, 80 years plus issues and much regret to part with such a well proven and safe boat. (His words , not mine)
Our Saga 26 has now been launched ready for the new season but unable to use due to unexpected medical problems. Regretably now offered for sale. Quality antifouling applied, topsides polished and all underwater fittings, annodes, cutlass bearing etc examined and found to be A1. ( All renewed last year) The Saga 26HT enjoys a high reputation for not only having well crafted build quality but being a well tested design offering comfort at sea whether coastal cruising or Channel crossings. Perfect also for exploring the French canals. The long keel that encompasses the propeller with the rudder close to, ensures complete fingertip control at all times. If and when needed there is also a bow thruster fitted to this boat
This Saga has the reliable Yanmar 95hp turbo engine that has always been regularly maintained and serviced by a professional engineer. With only 710 hours recorded(hardly run in ) this engine is in perfect condition.
Accommodation
The overall Canvas cover is designed to offer either overall protection from weather with small openings above for helm person and navigator if and when required or with the option to completely fold the last quarter aft over the cockpit seating. There is an exit area here to the bathing ladder and for easily exiting/boarding the boat if moored stern to.
The boat also benefits from having infill cushions for the stern seating, This creates a large sunbed or could also be used as a second berth.
All joinery is in quality teak.
The U-shaped dinette forward provides a comfortable living space with the large centrally mounted table dropping down to create a decent sized(1.89m long by 1.52m wide) double berth or two singles. Storage is provided within the cabin in the form of under bunk storage lockers, a large deep front opening locker in the bow and a half height hanging locker aft.
An additional single bunk is provided in the aft port section of the cabin with the bunk extending aft under the cockpit seating.
Heads:
A dedicated heads compartment is provided amidships. Of a good size for a boat of 26' the compartment provides a manual sea toilet which discharges via a holding tank, there is also a hand basin, vanity unit & a shower with hot & cold pressurised water that has a separate shower sump discharging overboard.
.
Wheelhouse & Helm Position:
Moving aft into the wheelhouse the helm station is located to starboard at the forward end of the wheelhouse, it has an adjustable well upholstered captains chair. Different to many motorboats of this size is an upholstered 'navigators seat on the port side and one of the reasons we purchased this class of boat. The full width windscreen and large Windows on the side of the wheelhouse provides excellent vision for the helmsman & navigator. With the companionway hatch shut a working space for chart work is created to the starboard side.
Galley:
Immediately aft of the helm seat is the compact yet fully functional galley area. Laid out sensibly the galley provides all amenities with 2 burner hob, stainless steel sink, folding work surface & a 12V refrigerator. Hot and cold water. A locker & selection of drawers provide storage for crockery, cutlery & provisions.
Aft Cockpit:
The large cockpit aft provides seating in a U shaped configuration with thick comfortable cushions & backrests.
An adjustable height cockpit table fitted on a swiveling base with folding leaves provides a huge number of combinations to suit the requirements of the crew aboard, there is also a smaller hand crafted circular table top which comes with the boat & useful when you have lots of guests onboard.
Lockers are provided under all seating to create a huge storage capacity.
